An installer image for your own hardware or VM. After installing, Monorail keeps itself up to date.
No Monorail installer has been published yet. Check back soon or watch the changelog.
The installer erases a disk without asking. After a 10-second boot menu it installs onto the largest disk that isn't the install medium. Only the minimum-requirements check can stop it. Boot it on a machine or VM you mean to dedicate to Monorail.
The installer is Debian 13 with Docker and the whole Monorail stack on board, so it installs without internet access. Minimum: 2 CPUs, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB disk; UEFI (amd64 also boots BIOS).
# In the folder with the ISO and SHA256SUMS $ shasum -a 256 --ignore-missing -c SHA256SUMS # macOS $ sha256sum --ignore-missing -c SHA256SUMS # Linux
The installer holds the keys every later update is checked against, so check it before you boot it.
Proxmox (amd64): machine q35, BIOS OVMF (UEFI) with an EFI disk, a 64 GB disk, 2+ cores, 4 GB RAM; enable QEMU Guest Agent to see the VM's address in Proxmox.
UTM (arm64 Mac): Virtualize → Linux, boot the ISO, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB disk.
Bare metal: write the ISO to a USB stick (for example with balenaEtcher) and boot from it. The Raspberry Pi 5 isn't supported yet.
The install takes a few minutes and reboots. The console then shows the dashboard's address (https://<hostname>.local/) and a setup code: open the address, enter the code, and create your admin account.
Monorail checks the Hub for new releases and installs them in its maintenance window, so an installer that's a few versions old is fine. Enter your Founders Pass activation key under Settings → Hub to follow the bleeding-edge track.
